GLASS & WOOD / GW HOME
Timber windows made to your project
Timber windows combine a natural interior surface with a construction and glazing specification chosen for the building. Glass & Wood provides project-specific design and manufacturing.
Fixed and opening windows
Start with the window schedule: opening dimensions, fixed or opening sections, opening direction and finished floor levels. The visible frame, glazing divisions and handles should be coordinated with the architecture. A large fixed window and an opening sash of the same overall size place different demands on the structure and hardware.
Choosing the glazing
Thermal insulation, daylight transmission and solar control are different properties. The right combination depends on the room, orientation and shading. The Ug value describes the glazing; the Uw value describes the complete window. Ask for the specification of the actual construction rather than applying one glass value to the whole window.
Timber, finish and installation
The timber and surface finish are agreed alongside the frame construction and exposure. Installation details must connect the window to the wall, insulation and weather protection. Confirm who prepares the openings and finishes the interior and exterior reveals.
Structural glazing windows
If the intention is a continuous external glass surface with timber visible inside, see our timber windows with structural glazing. This is a distinct construction requiring coordinated glass bonding and edge details.
